Then lift the door up and out of the track laying it down carefully across two sawhorses.
How to lift heavy sliding doors.
First slide open the door completely and remove the head stop.
If the door is too heavy for you to lift up and out you can accomplish the same thing by using a couple of flat bars or pry bars and pry up from the bottom on it.
There you ll see a small hole.
This adjustment screw will move the roller height up or down and thus your sliding glass door height will go up or down by as much as 1 4 inch or 1 2 cm.
Insert a phillips screwdriver into this hole and turn the screw inside the hole counterclockwise.
Most sliding doors have a mechanism called an adjusting screw located at the bottom of the door ends.
Turning this screw raises or lowers the roller.
Here are the basic steps.
Tinker around with the roller screws to see if the door glides better when it s at a lower or higher height.
Use hot soapy water and a brush to clean the tracks.
This should raise the roller and allow you to lift the door and pull the bottom edge toward you and away from the bottom track.
If you do this however it helps to place a piece of backer board down so when you pry it doesn t do any damage especially if you have timber floorboards beneath.
Sliding doors are very heavy very breakable and very expensive this is a two person job.
Give the screw a clockwise turn and test to see whether the door slides easier.
Remove the sliding door.
Locate the adjustment screws at the door s bottom corner.
Reinstall the doors and adjust the rollers to the correct height.
