Measure the height of the door opening on the right side as well.
If the doorway has moldings measure from outside edge to outside edge to determine the proper door width add about 4 to 6 inches to your measurement.
Cut away all the old silicone and paint attached to the door.
Be sure to capture both width and height measurements.
Take both measurements because the door opening may not be square.
If the vertical or horizontal walls are out of plumb the two numbers will differ slightly.
Using a tape measure begin at the left edge of the opening and measure straight across to the right edge.
Again depending on the style of your home measure from the header to the bottom of the door sill siding to the bottom of the door sill or edge of the stucco to the bottom of the door sill.
If your old patio screen door is available simply measure the length and width outside edge to edge and give us those measurements.
Remove the slider door trim with a crowbar.
Measure the top width of the shower area where the top of the door will rest.
Do this across the bottom middle and top.
Ideally the door will cover 2 to 3 inches beyond the opening on each side.
Compare the two width numbers.
Be careful not to damage it.
Pull out any.

Once again measure only the door itself and no other elements such as a door sweep.

Run your tape measure along your door from the top corner to the bottom corner and write this number down.
If your sliding screen doors are missing determine width by measuring from inside of side jamb to center of stile on opposite side just short of where the stationary glass begins.
Record this measurement on the paper.
