How to mount a shelf to a wall stury.
With a unit such as the one we are installing the shelf and coat hooks should be at a height that is easy to reach.
First you ll need to position the shelf on the wall.
Use screws to secure the cleat to the wall.
Use a standard level to make sure it s placed in a straight line then lightly mark the wall with a pencil on both ends.
Position the shelf brackets against the wall along the bottom of the shelf.
Remove the shelf and the brackets from the wall.
To put up shelves pick out an open spot along the wall use a stud finder to locate 2 wall studs and lightly mark the 2 spots with a pencil.
Next hold up one of your mounting brackets at the desired height and mark the bracket s screw holes on the wall making sure that the holes are in line with the studs.
Mark inside the holes so you know exactly where to insert the screws.
Hold the first standard on the wall over the mark designating the middle of the stud.
Standard practice is to place picture frames roughly at eye level.
Try to install the screws into the studs or use heavy anchor fasteners.
Here is a small torpedo level to order too.
Use 2 3 screws depending on the length of your shelf.
Again good to have it handy in your toolbox i then dry fitted one board marking the wall for level.
