If the speakers are reasonably small there are small mountings used to hang mirrors and paintings that you could screw onto the back of the speakers. If you re mounting more than 2 speakers it will be easier to make a template out of cardboard. Drill a 5 16 inch hole in drywall. Move the coat hanger around to feel for any obstructions.

Drill a small 0 25 inch hole in the wall at the center of the stud bay and insert a coat hanger bent at a 90 degree angle. If you find any it s easy to patch the small hole. Use a speaker mount as a template to mark mounting hole locations.
