Garage doors can come crashing down when the release cord is pulled so if at all possible use the release cord when the garage door is closed.
Make sure to pull the emergency release cord in a downward motion.
Locate the release kit and insert the right key into the hole.
Turn the key and remove the tumbler from the lock this will engage the release mechanism of the door opener.
Lift the garage doors until they stop moving upwards.
