Slide the mode switch to either 9 or 12 depending upon how many dip switches the genie opener uses. Press where the arrow is by the cover with your thumb to slide the cover off the remote control. For genie openers the led will begin blinking. Locate the mode switch on the right side of the remote control dip switches.

When the garage door activates release the button and depress again the selected button to lock in the program. Older genie garage door openers use a series of dip switches to program the receiver on the motor to work with the door opener remote control.
