How to take a light fixture off the wall.
If they have slots use a screwdriver.
Remove the bulb and old light fixture shade turn off the light and unscrew the light bulb.
Unscrew the light fixture from the mounting plate attached to the electrical box.
Hold the fixture plate as you loosen the screws in the mounting bracket to prevent it falling from the ceiling.
Since the light fixture is now fully removed keep the power switched off until a new fixture is safely installed.
Unscrew the mounting screws holding the fixture to the electrical box.
Remove the light bulb by twisting it by hand in a counterclockwise direction and set it aside.
Leave this breaker off.
Use a non contact circuit tester to check the wires for power.
Use a screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the mounting bracket to the fixture plate.
Pull the fixture off the wall then unscrew the wire.
Step 1 turn off the power to the fixture at the fuse box.
Lower the existing fixture off the wall or ceiling by taking out the mounting screws holding it to the electrical box exposing the wiring behind it.

Loosen the mounting screws or knob that holds the base of the light fixture to the electrical box then gently pull the fixture away from the box.
Hold onto the glass as you unscrew it.
Remove the thumb nuts that hold the light fixture to the mounting plate.
You can sometimes turn decorative screws by hand or with pliers.
Turn on the light switch then flip off breakers in the main panel until the light goes off.
Use a circuit tester to verify the power is off.
Hold the fixture in one hand as the wiring may not support the weight of the fixture.
Now unscrew the little ring that holds the glass in place.
Remove the old light fixture remove any shade or globe on the sconce then remove the light bulb.
