Video of the day.
How to take apart a lever door handle.
A paperclip or small pin can also be used if the screwdriver is too big.
If your knob has a pinhole or small slot opening use a flathead screwdriver to push it inward.
Turn the key 90 degrees and remove it.
Line up the hole on the barrel of the handle with the tab on the lock mechanism which is still attached to the door then slide the barrel onto the lock.
Turn the wrench to remove the fastener then pull the lever away from the door by hand.
Look for a recessed slot in the shaft of the handle.
In order to get at the screws that hold the handle to the door you need to expose them by removing the plate that surrounds the lever handle also known as a rose.
You can usually twist or pry it off with a flathead screwdriver to expose the screws.
Begin by holding the door knob securely in place.
Use a philips head screwdriver to unscrew them.
Some lever handles have hexagonal shaped fasteners that require an allen wrench for removal.
Look for these fasteners along the base of the lever then use an allen wrench that fits snugly into the head of the fastener.
Step 1 unscrew the door lever handle.
Turn the key to the reset position and push the barrel until it snaps in place.
If your door has no visible screws check the neck of the knob or lever for a small hole.
